Production Technical director position - The 39 Steps

Position Overview:

Merely Players is launching its 45th season with a production of The 39 Steps, and we are thrilled to have the budget to fund this position for each of our 4 productions. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the completion and smooth operation of the technical aspects of the production. 

  • Provide guidance for all technical systems, including but not limited to: 

    • Theatre in General 

    • Lighting Systems 

    • Set construction tools and equipment 

    • Production Intercom System 

    • Audio Systems 

    • Back of House Monitoring System  

    • Rigging Systems 

  • Advise the Artistic Director and Production Team on the technical specifications, costs, usage, and safety of technical equipment required for the individual show. 

Time commitment: 

  • In-person attendance (unless virtual attendance has been authorized):  

  1. Production Meetings (usually on Wednesday evenings) 

  1. Set technical workdays (Friday evenings and Saturday mornings) 

  1. Strike (following final Sunday matinee) 

The production calendar for “The 39 Steps” runs from August 26th through October 19th. 

Stipend: $350
