Shop Helpers
Task:
Assist a costume designer to build costumes, add finishing items
buttons etc, organize dressing rooms, construct special pieces
(hats, purses, etc)
Hours: Variable.
When: Dress rehearsals and show nights.
Hair and
Make-up
Task:
Help actors with quick changes, help actors with make-up, help
actors with hair, wig styling, make-up designs.
Hours: 1-3 Hours.
When: Dress rehearsals and show nights.
Set
Construction
Task:
Help build scenery, paint scenery (both general and artistic,)
organize shop, strike set.
Hours: Variable.
When: Variable (Arranged by contact with a technical director)
Actor
Task:
Rehearse and Perform in a play/musical. (All actors
will be chosen at open auditions)
Hours: Variable.
When: Typically M-Th 7-9PM for 4-6 weeks for rehearsals. Then 2
weekends of Fri-Sun. shows. (Must be able to participate in all
rehearsals and performances.)
Director
Task:
Manage production from auditions to strike. Cast the show, run
rehearsals for 4-6 weeks during a non-musical and 6-8 weeks for a
musical. Work collaboratively with head crew departments.
Hours: variable.
When: variable.
Assistant
Director
Task:
Assist Director and actors with all the process to create shows.
(From an audition to a strike.)
Hours: Variable.
When: Basically the same schedule as an actor. (Must be able to
participate in all rehearsals and performances.)
Props
Task:
Gather props, construct props, organize prop shop, strike set.
Hours: Variable.
When: Variable and show nights.
House
Manager
Task:
Organize and recruit ushers for show, purchase concessions, manage
ushers on show nights.
Hours: 2-3
