What is Merely Mysteries?

The New York Times calls interactive murder mysteries, "A party game for grown-ups in search of more spice in their entrees." Local writers, directors and actors have combined their talents to create a whodunit which allows you to interact with murder suspects and try to solve the crime - all while enjoying a delicious dinner in a great setting.

Most of our shows are performed over a 3-4 course meal (although this can be tailored to meet your needs. i.e. buffet style, wine tasting, ect.) and run approximately 1.5 – 2 hours. The show is designed for audience interaction as the characters mix and mingle with guests throughout the evening and perform brief scenes to provide clues as to “whodunit”. There is no stage, nothing separating you from the actors. Dinner will be served throughout the evening and there will be breaks in the action for you to question the characters and search for clues. 

Some of our plays are specifically historical (1920’s gangster) or theme based (class reunion), so if you are coming with friends and want to come in costume related to the show, this will add to the show and to your fun.

 Pricing & Booking

Since every murder mystery party is tailored to fit your needs, it is difficult to give exact pricing details until we have more information regarding your event. To request a quote, contact Maggie Maes, Production Coordinator at 507-995-0990 or maggiemaes@gmail.com.

 You will need to book your event at least 2 months in advance (especially before the holiday season; we book up very quickly). This gives the Production
Coordinator time to plan the event and gather the necessary actors. Our actors are part of the Merely Players Community Theatre and are not professionally hired actors. However, Merely Players provides training for each actor and they are given a stipend for each show they participate in.
